Today, Heliox has announced that it is working with First Bus to power the U.K.'s biggest electric charging station in Glasgow, Scotland.

With phased completion scheduled across the next 18 months, the Caledonia Glasgow depot, already the UK’s largest bus depot, will be re-designed to have space to charge up to 300 EV buses on site. The first phase of the project, now underway, will see 11 dual DC rapid, modular and scalable chargers installed, with an additional 69 installed in Phase Two from this summer, increasing the number of chargers on the site to 162.

First Bus is moving fast to achieve its goal of a fully zero emission e-bus fleet by 2035. In anticipation of the COP26 United Nations’ Climate Change conference, the city of Glasgow is already taking crucial steps towards transport electrification. Funding for the project has been made possible by £28.2m from the Scottish Government’s Ultra-Low Emission Bus Scheme as well as additional investment from First Bus.
